GILLINGHAM have confirmed they will be offering fresh deals to top scorer Darren Byfield and goalkeeper Jason Brown.

Ronnie Jepson is keen to keep the pair, along with Trinidad and Tobago international defender Ian Cox and youngster Frannie Collin.

But with a small budget at Jepson's disposal it remains to be seen whether those contract offers will be enough to entice the likes of Byfield to stay at Priestfield.

Byfield, Brown and Cox will all now be in discussions with their agents and possibly other interested clubs before making their decisions.

Young striker Collin, who has just completed his first year as a professional, will be loaned out at the start of the season to gain aditional experience should he accept the proposals.

Brown, 23, has just won his first full cap for Wales, but admitted after the game against Blackpool that he could have played his last match for the club.

The player of the year said: "I’ve put in a proposal of what I feel I’m worth and it’s down to the club and I’d like to think they would make a big effort to keep me."

The Gills are also in talks with striker Gary Mulligan, who spent several months on loan from Sheffield United.
