Teenager Kortney Hause has arrived at Priestfield to bolster Gillingham’s defence.

The 19-year-old joins on a six-month youth loan deal from last season’s League 1 champions Wolves.

Hause only joined Wolves at the start of this year, on a two and a half year contract, after impressing at Wycombe Wanderers.

He has yet to make his first team debut for Wolves but has made 23 Football League appearances for his former club Wycombe.

Hause is the latest young professional to join Gillingham’s ranks and boss Peter Taylor is sure the central defender will be a real asset.

Taylor said: “I have been speaking to Wolves quite a bit about Kortney and I spoke to Kenny Jackett (the Wolves manager) about him last season. I am really pleased to have him in the building.

“He is another young player but a young player with an old head. He can play in a number of positions, including left-back and left centre half. He is another young, hungry player who will want to come here and do well.

“I am really pleased to have him and he will get a lot out of it and so will we.”

The deal runs until January 4.

Taylor has had a busy summer, recruiting a host of new signings, but Hause may not be the last.

“I am still looking at us and because we have a couple of slight injuries,” said Taylor.

Full-backs Matt Fish and Joe Martin are both rated doubtful for Tuesday’s pre-season games at Dover and Faversham.
