BROMLEY manager Mark Goldberg has resigned following Tuesday night's Setanta Shield defeat to Welling.

It was only Bromley's second successive defeat after they won their previous three matches - including an FA Trophy success over Chippenham.

The Lillywhites are eighth in Blue Square South, just a point away from the play-off places, and through to the first round of the FA Trophy.

Chairman Jeremy Dolke said: "Mark has decided to step down, he has been unable to commit as much time as he would like to the job in recent weeks and felt that he was letting the club and himself down.

"I would like to put on record my thanks for the tremendous job he did in such a short time in charge. What we have achieved has been fantastic and his contribution to that success was a massive one."

Goldberg took over last summer and led the club to promotion via the Ryman League Premier Division play-offs at the end of his first season in charge.
