KENT snooker player Gerard Greene has been left wondering where his next win is coming from following an early exit from the Benson & Hedges Snooker Championship in Mansfield. Greene, the world number 63, started favourite to reach the last 64 against Yorkshireman Paul Davison, who was ranked 117 places below him.

The Rainham player made a good start and took a 2-0 lead with breaks of 47, 33 and 61. But Davison recovered to pull of an upset by capturing five of the last six frames, helped by breaks of 75, 46, 44 and 49.

Greene, a Northern Ireland Nations Cup player, said: "I'm just struggling with my game at the moment and perhaps a few good wins behind me would change everything. But it is about five or six games now since I last won a match."

Greene's next tournament is in Glasgow later this month when he competes in the Open Tour event. "I don't know who I will be up against, but it will probably be some potting machine," he added.
