History favours visitors in derby cup clash

Charlton Athletic v Leyton Orient

CHARLTON entertain their near neighbours Leyton Orient in the FA Cup fourth round at The Valley on Saturday.

Although Orient are three divisions below the Premiership side, the Addicks are under extra pressure because they haven't beaten the League 2 promotion hopefuls in more than 40 years in cup competitions.

Manager Alan Curbishley recently reverted to the tried and tested "old guard" - with players like Matt Holland and Jonathan Fortune returning to the team - and it has coincided with an upturn in results.

He made the decision following five straight defeats over the festive period - and he admits he should have changed the side earlier.

Curbishley said: "The results were going against us and I let it carry on too long before I did something about it. So that's my fault. We did take action and I hope that holds us in good stead for the future."
