CHARLTON recorded their fifth goalless draw in their last eight matches at Upton Park on Sunday.

The home side created the better chances in a relatively dour London derby.

Marlon Harewood offered the biggest threat and twice went close in the first half. Anton Ferdinand also shot powerfully into the side netting from a narrow angle.

The Addicks forced a series of corners early in the second period, but the closest they came was a well struck Darren Bent shot that was comfortably saved by Shaka Hislop.

Yossi Benayoun twice shot wide from decent positions before Matt Holland sent an effort well wide at the other end.

Charlton had to withstand late pressure from The Hammers and were grateful to Radostin Kishsishev who was in the right place to clear Bobby Zamora’s goal-bound header off the line and Thomas Myhre saved superbly from Teddy Sheringham.

Charlton must wait for news on the extent of captain Luke Young’s ankle injury, which forced him off just after the hour mark.

Charlton: Myhre, Young (Spector 62), Perry, Hreidarsson, Powell, Rommedahl, (Thomas 70), Holland, Kishishev, Hughes, M Bent (Bothroyd 86), D Bent.
Subs Not Used: Andersen, Euell
Attendance: 34,753.
