CHRIS HOPE: ankle injury has kept him on the sidelines

GILLINGHAM'S Chris Hope could be available after a long-term ankle injury to face Rotherham at Priestfield this Saturday.

Player-manager Andy Hessenthaler returns having completed a two-match suspension but Danny Spiller is doubtful with a foot injury.

Hessenthaler said: “All our games are going to be tough from here on in. But Rotherham are a physical side, which we can match.

"Being the home side, the pressure is on us to perform. We were absolutely superb on Tuesday at Norwich and for long periods looked much the better side up until Barry Ashby’s sending-off. I cannot ask any more from my players.”

In a boost to under-fire strikers Mamady Sidibe and Patrick Agyemang, Hessenthaler said: “I thought their performances at Norwich was the best they have played together. Patrick was a handful and we need him to be like that for the rest of the season.”

* Former Gillingham goalkeeper Jim Stannard has been appointed assistant manager at Brentford.
