Simeon Jackson lines up the equaliser on Sunday against Aston Villa

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson admits he will be unable to stop leading scorer Simeon Jackson from leaving if a sizeable bid is made.

Jackson netted his 12th goal of the season on Sunday against Aston Villa and Stimson, who recently valued the 20-year-old at over £1 million, knows that he’s attracting plenty of interest.

Stimson doesn’t want to lose Jackson, who he signed from Rushden for £150,000 during the last January transfer window, but he knows that money talks.

“Every player has his price and hopefully my phone will keep quiet over January,” said Stimson.

“I think people may look at him (Jackson) in the summer. They’ll think he’s done fantastically well in the first half of the season and if he can continue to develop in the second half then someone will definitely want to gamble.”

Jackson has played 42 times for Gillingham and netted 16 goals in that time. He’s currently contracted to the club until June 2011.
