Jepson has told a number of players they have no future at Priestfield

Colchester United 5 - 0 Gillingham

GILLINGHAM caretaker manager Ronnie Jepson is gearing up for a January clear-out following the second-half capitulation at Colchester on Saturday.

Jepson was left fuming at his side’s inept display during the five-goal hammering and has already drawn up a list of those he wants out of the club.

Jepson told several players that their futures lie elsewhere following Saturday’s display and he has his eye on a bunch of new faces, who he hopes will save the club from relegation.

"That told us something that we already knew about some of the players at this club who aren’t good enough to play for Gillingham," said Jepson, who is set for a busy month when the transfer window re-opens on January 1.

"I’ve sat down with the chairman, the list is quite long with people that are willing to move. I’ve got to stick with these players until January at least, some of them maybe until the end of the season, and I just want the right kind of character to play for the club.

"I’ve also given the chairman a list of people I’d like to bring into this football club. People who are going to put that shirt on, be mentally tough, and go about their jobs in a proper manner, which we didn’t do today.

"When I say players that don’t want to play for the club I’m talking about players that aren’t good enough to play for the club as well. They may feel that they are giving their all, but they’re not.

"I’m not going to name players, I’ve got a list and that stays between me and the chairman."
