UNDER PRESSURE: Geraint Jones' place in the Test side is under threat

THE Test match media posse are firing criticism in the direction of Kent wicketkeeper Geraint Jones following Australia's Ashes win.

There are numerous calls for change in order to avoid the ignominy of a series whitewash.

While coach Duncan Fletcher's team selection has been questioned, support for Jones seems to be at its lowest ebb after his pair at the WACA.

Cricket writer for the Daily Telegraph, Simon Briggs said: "Geraint's batting form evaporated faster than a raindrop in the Great Sandy Desert."

Former England skipper Nasser Hussain, writing in The Times, said: "It puts Fletcher and Jones under pressure."

The BBC's cricket correspondent Jonathan Agnew said: "They put their faith in the batting of Jones, who simply has not delivered."

Agnew's BBC colleague Oliver Brett said: "In 11 Tests this year, he [Jones] has just two scores over 20 and his pair in Perth summed up his decline."
