Leon Legge won‘t be stressing about the management situation at Gillingham.

Boss Peter Taylor has one game left of his current tenure and it’s down to Gills chairman Paul Scally to decide if he is to be given a long-term deal. But it’s not new territory for centre-back Legge.

“I have been in this situation before at Brentford,” said the 28-year-old defender, who has another year left on his own contract.

“Andy Scott lost his job and Nicky Forster came in for the rest of the season. We didn’t know throughout the summer what was going on.

“It wasn’t until the start of pre-season that Uwe Rosler was put in charge. There were names floating about all summer, what manager was coming in and there must have been six different names, but I didn’t take any notice.

“I just waited until returning to training and I would see who was there. I switch off from football over the summer, although I will be watching the World Cup of course.”

Legge hopes that the experience gained will put Gills in a good position next time around.

He said: “The lads have now got experience in League 1 and so when we go out next season we will all know what to expect and it shouldn’t be a shock to them. Next season could be interesting.”
