GILLINGHAM have returned loan pair Anthony Scaramozzino and Moses Ashikodi to their clubs after both failed to impress.
Frenchman Scaramozzino, who originally signed for a season-long loan from Nice, had only one taste of first-team experience when he was an unused substitute in the games against Chesterfield and Southend.
Following his departure, club chairman Paul Scally said: "He didn’t come up to the standard the manager expected and he wasn’t therefore going to be considered for first team selection and we have told him that we don’t intend to keep him here any longer.
"The loan hasn’t cost the club any money as the deal was that when he started playing first team football we would start paying."
Eighteen-year-old Ashikodi returned to West Ham, almost two months early, after an eventful spell at Priestfield.
On his debut against Nottingham Forest the striker was almost sent off for remonstrating with the linesman, but he went one better on his next appearance, two months later, when he received his marching orders against Yeovil.
