Tom Phipp needed only 10 minutes to mark his Margate debut with a goal in a 4-1 Ryman League Premier Division win at Cray Wanderers on Tuesday night.
Midfielder Phipp, who joined from Ebbsfleet on Monday, gave Margate the lead but Paul Vines levelled straight after half-time.
Three goals in eight minutes late on from Mitchell Nelson, Sam Rents and Wayne Wilson secured the points for Gate.
Mark Murison scored a last-gasp winner as Whitstable Town recovered from two goals down inside five minutes to beat Redhill 3-2 and climb out of the bottom three in Ryman League Division 1 South.
Sam Robinson and Marcus Elliott put the visitors in charge but Ashley Baverstock launched the fightback with a penalty just before half-time.
Baverstock equalised early in the second half, then Murison's header won it for Town.
Folkestone Invicta were 3-1 winners at home to Ramsgate.
Goals from Liam Friend and Paul Booth gave fifth-placed Invicta a 2-0 lead midway through the first half.
Nick Treadwell replied before half-time but Dane Luchford ended Rams' hopes with a late third.
Luke Harvey scored the only goal of the game on 31 minutes as Faversham Town beat Herne Bay 1-0 at Salters Lane.
Mid-table Hythe Town lost 3-1 at play-off hopefuls Walton Casuals.
John Walker's 74th-minute strike got Hythe back in the game after Casuals opened up a two-goal lead through Gabriel Odunakie and Liam Collins but Malik Ouani added a third.
Youngster Gary Smith scored the winner 10 minutes from time as Maidstone United beat Burgess Hill 1-0 to reach the League Cup semi-finals.
Jack Harris missed a first-half penalty for Stones but teenage goalkeeper Will Godmon - a late replacement for Lee Worgan - saved one at the other end from Scott Kirkwood.
