Mark Stimson has two more forwards at his disposal

Gillingham v Luton

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson will have two more strikers at his disposal for the crucial home match with Luton tonight (Tuesday).

Stimson snapped up Coventry’s Donovan Simmonds on loan and signed well-travelled Ivory Coast striker Georges Ba as the loan transfer deadline closed on Thursday. Both are likely to be named as substitutes.

Stimson said: “It might be a case of Simeon Jackson and Dennis Oli giving their all for 60, 70 minutes and then we can flip it with a couple of others.”

Stimson will also have midfielder Kevin Maher back after suspension but keeper Simon Royce (ankle) may face a fight to get back into the team.

“If Royce is fit it will be a big decision for me,” said Stimson. “Derek Stillie kept a clean sheet on Saturday and I’m pleased because he’s been in front of back fours who haven’t done him any favours recently.”

Luton are all but relegated from League 1 – despite their win over Crewe on Saturday making it four games unbeaten for the Hatters – but Stimson knows the dangers they may pose.

“Luton are playing free-spirit football with no worries,” he said.
