GILLINGHAM striker Iffy Onuora challenged England's strikers to better his wonder goal when they confront Sweden in the World Cup.

The Gillingham striker, who beat Sweden's No 1 goalkeeper and Player of the Year Magnus Hedman from fully 35 yards to pave the way for Saturday's 2-1 win at Coventry, had no hesitation in nominating it as the best of his career.

England are due to meet Sweden in Saitama in Group F on June 2 and Onuora, who qualifies for Scotland, said: "Hopefully I'll be away in the sunshine somewhere watching the match in a beachside bar.

"It will be interesting to see how the England strikers get on against Magnus Hedman and I'll be wondering if they can score a better goal than mine against him."

"I think I've shown Sven-Goran Eriksson that he can be beaten from distance."

He added: "I can't think of a better goal in my career. Dare I say it was the finest of my career and when I watch England playing Sweden it will bring back a very happy memory. I had a bit of luck because the ball sat up perfectly. I just thought to myself that I'll have a go and it hit the back of the net.

"I don't think Coventry can have any complaints because we deserved to win and that result will be a big boost going into Tuesday's FA Cup tie with Bristol Rovers."

Coventry manager Roland Nilsson sportingly added: "It was a fantastic goal, probably the best we've seen on this ground for a long time. I just wish that a Coventry player had scored it. It just stunned our players because we had started well enough and hit the inside of a post in the opening seconds."
