KEITH PEACOCK: says it's the club's biggest match at The Valley since they returned to the Premier League

Charlton v Middlesbrough

CHARLTON assistant manager Keith Peacock has described tonight’s FA Cup quarter-final against Middlesbrough as the biggest game at The Valley since the Addicks returned to the Premier League.

Charlton have failed to make significant progress in the FA Cup since winning the trophy in 1947 but Peacock believes that with home advantage they can take a giant stride towards the final on May 13.

He said: “For me, this is the biggest match at The Valley since we returned to the Premier League.

“Even though it’s on television, we’re hoping our supporters set their video recorders and turn up in their droves because there is nothing quite like being there on a big cup night.

“All being well there will be a cracking atmosphere at The Valley.”

Tonight’s tie sees Charlton making only their third appearance in an FA Cup quarter-final since 1947 and Peacock knows that history is stacked against them.

Though they completed a home and away win double over Middlesbrough this season, Charlton have never beaten them in eight FA Cup meetings. In the most recent Boro won a fourth round replay 2-1 at Ayresome Park in 1965.

Charlton manager Alan Curbishley said: "Nobody needs me to emphasise the importance of the match, and we need as many supporters there as possible.

"I know it’s a midweek match and the game is live on television, but receiving the support of a packed stadium will be vital to gaining success."

Tickets will be available tonight priced £20 for adults, £10 for over 60s and under 18s, and £5 for under 16s.

The game kicks off at 8.05pm.
