Priestfield switch makes coach Robson happy again

Mark Robson is thriving on the new lease of life he’s been given since his move to Gillingham.
Robson, 39, joined the club on a non-contract basis as first-team coach two weeks ago, shortly after ending a nine-year stint on the coaching staff at Charlton.
It was a bold move by the former Tottenham, West Ham and Charlton player, but a move that he doesn’t regret.
“I had a year left at Charlton but felt I needed to have a bit more input into what I was doing at the club,” he said.
“I’ve got a new lease of life at the minute because no matter what your job, it’s always good to feel wanted – in football or any other industry.
“When you are wanted you are always prepared to go a little further and you want to do a little more. At the moment, I’m enjoying myself and I can’t wait to get into training.
“At some point in my life I want to be manager so I’ve got plenty of ambition. I felt it was the right time to do it and I was lucky that I got an opportunity pretty quickly.”
