Sittingbourne’s blistering start earned them a 2-0 win over Horsham at Woodstock on Saturday to make it 10 points from four games in Ryman League Division 1 South.
Joe Taylor lashed the hosts ahead after 12 minutes and Tom Loynes slotted the second eight minutes later to ensure a comfortable afternoon for the Brickies on a day when several Ryman League clubs were in FA Trophy action.
Faversham Town recorded a timely away win after a 6-3 romp at Eastbourne Town.
They raced into a 3-0 lead with two goals from Jamie Maxted either side of an own-goal, all in a 10-minute spell midway through the first half.
Billy Medlock pulled one back seven minutes before the break before a flurry of activity in the 60 seconds before half-time, Danny Hockton getting a Town fourth and Andrew Mensah getting a second for Bourne.
Darren Marsden made it 5-2 on the hour and though Mensah pulled one back five minutes from time, Renford Tenyue had the final say with the sixth.
Folkestone Invicta cruised to a convincing 3-0 win against Tooting & Mitcham.
Man-of-the-match Josh Vincent set them on their way with his second goal in as many months from right-back and Paul Booth made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time before completing his double with 10 minutes remaining.
Invicta are now just three points outside the top-eight in 15th, after overtaking Herne Bay, 3-0 losers at home to Redhill.
Marcus Elliot put Hill ahead five minutes in and he grabbed the crucial second 14 minutes from time, with Rees Myrell adding a third in the closing stages.
Bay saw five men booked while Hill lost Julian Owusu to a red card in the final few minutes.
Hythe Town suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat at Worthing in the final minute, having come from two goals down.
Will Berry and Chris O’Flaherty made it 2-0 inside 38 minutes but two goals in five minutes after the hour from Shaun Welford and Lee Winfield looked to have given Town a share of the points until mark Knee converted a last-minute penalty.
Three goals in the final 24 minutes condemned Cray Wanderers to a 3-0 home defeat to Wealdstone in Ryman League Premier Division on Saturday.
The hosts held their own until one-time Arsenal man Scott McGleish put Wealdstone ahead on 66 minutes and there was no way back for the Wands as Sean Cronin converted a penalty 12 minutes from time and McGleish’s second sealed the win late-on.
Basement-boys Thamesmead Town battled to a dramatic 2-1 win at Harrow Borough to climb above Crayy, who are now second-bottom.
Mikel Suarez put Mead ahead just before the break and although Shaun Lucian drew the hosts level 17 minutes from time, Drew Hopkins bagged the winner in the 88th minute.
Chatham Town made it back-to-back away wins in Ryman League Division 1 North as they saw off some stiff pressure win 2-1 at Burnham Ramblers.
Two goals in as many minutes from Alfie May and Austin Gacheru gave the visitors a 2-0 lead midway through the first half.
Chats keeper Jack Bradshaw was forced off with a knee injury after the break and with no reserve keeper, sub Luke May went in goal, only to concede a penalty which was converted by Neil Richmond on 65 minutes.
Town withstood an aerial bombardment for the last half-hour to see-out a useful away win.
Leaders VCD Athletic suffered a surprise 2-1 home defeat against second-placed Heybridge Swifts.
Ben Payne saw red for the hosts after 14 minutes and the Essex side took the lead through Neil Cousins six minutes later.
Swifts made it 2-0 through Luke Callander shortly after the hour and although James Duckworth pulled one back five minutes from time, they could not find a leveller. Athletic remain eight points clear with a game in hand.
Erith & Belvedere suffered a 4-1 defeat at home to Witham Town on Sunday afternoon.
They cancelled out a Witham first-half opener thanks to an own goal seven minutes into the second-half but Town made it 2-1 17 minutes from time and added two more in stoppage-time.
