Sacked Taylor: I want to work again straightaway

HARRY Redknapp is to have talks with Leicester later this week regarding the vacant manager's job previously held by former Gillingham manager Peter Taylor. Redknapp, currently director of football at first division Portsmouth, said he would be faced with a tough decision if he was offered the opportunity to replace Taylor, who was axed as Foxes manager last weekend.
Redknapp is thought to be top of the Filbert Street shortlist. He said: "I am going to see the Leicester people this week and have a chat with them, then we shall see where we go from there."
Taylor, who led Gillingham into the First Division and had a highly successful spell as coach of the England Under-21s before that, says he wants to return to the game as soon as possible. He stressed: "I am determined that I will prove them - the people who have sacked me - wrong. I am not angry. I am frustrated. I know I would have got it right.
"I do not need a break and if possible I would like to be working again straightaway. We will have to see what happens."
