Billy Medlock struck twice as Tonbridge Angels ended a run of three straight defeats with a 2-0 win against Hampton & Richmond Borough in Ryman League Premier Division on Saturday.

The forward put the hosts ahead at Longmead after James Folkes cross was nodded down by Tommy Whitnell on 53 minutes.

He added his 10th of the season 13 minutes from time when a long ball forward drew visiting keeper Jack Norton from his goal, with the stopper coughing up possession to give Medlock an easy finish to seal the points which took Angels 11th.

With Maidstone United out of action, Margate took over at the top of the division with a 4-1 win at Bury Town.

At the other end of the table 10-man VCD Athletic snatched a dramatic point which prevented them going bottom after a stirring comeback.

Goals either side of half-time from Sam Higgins put East Thurrock United 2-0 ahead and Lewis Tozer’s goal 10 minutes from time looked to be a mere consolation when VCD’s Elliot Cox was sent-off two minutes later.

However Nick Reeves snatched an injury-time equaliser to keep Athletic off the foot of the table.

Game of the day came in Division 1 South as Whitstable Town came back from 4-2 down with 10 minutes to play to win 5-4 with a last-minute goal.

Hosting rock-bottom but much improved Walton Casuals, the Oystermen fell 2-0 down inside 23 minutes and despite Ian Pulman netting a penalty on the half-hour it was 3-1 at the break and Town saw Luke Doherty red-carded seconds before the interval for a professional foul.

Kane Rowland reduced the deficit on 68 minutes but Gabriel Odunaike’s spectacular fourth for Casuals on 75 minutes looked to be enough to win it, only for a second Pulman spot-kick on 80 minutes and Rowland’s second on 88 minutes to level the scores, with Casuals seeing Connor French red-carded for an off the ball incident.

Deep into injury-time Peter Wedgeworth ‘s low driven free-kick beat everyone and found the net to spark rapturous scenes.

Folkestone Invicta came from behind to win in manager Neil Cugley’s 900th game in charge.

Carshalton Athletic looked set to be party poopers after taking a first-half lead, however Josh Vincent and Ian Draycott turned the game around in the space of 60 seconds, just after the hour, and Draycott’s second on 71 minutes ensured the points on the memorable day for Cugley.

Faversham Town’s perfect home record this season was ended as Corinthian Casuals came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Salters Lane.

The Lilywhites led at the break through Kieran Oliver’s 13th-minute goal, only for Casuals to become the first time in eight games to avoid defeat with a goal from Hodges just after the hour.

Sittingbourne are level on points with second-placed Town, albeit two places back, after holding on to win 2-1 at Walton & Hersham.

Hicham Akhazzan broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half and Joe Nwoko doubled the Brickies lead on 67 minutes, though Nathan Daly set-up a grandstand finale with a goal 12 minutes from time.

Herne Bay’s away-day struggles continued as they slipped to a 1-0 reverse at Tooting & Mitcham to fall to seventh.

Bay have now taken just two points from seven games on the road, scoring five goals, after they could not cancel out a 17th-minute opener from Summers.

Five Kent sides are currently in the top-eight in the division, though Michael Yianni salvaged a point for second-bottom Hythe Town with a last-minute equaliser at South Park.

James Morrish put the Cannons ahead on 21 minutes but two goals in two minutes midway through the second half looked like earning the Surrey side the points, only for Yianni to grab the late leveller.

Ramsgate edged an entertaining game against East Grinstead 3-2 at Southwood.

Layton Schaaf put the Sussex side ahead but Macauley Murray levelled on 25 minutes and goals swiftly either side of the interval from Charlie Walsh and Warren Schulz proved enough to win it, despite Michael Belli pulling one back on 50 minutes for the visitors.

In Division 1 North, Chatham Town drew 0-0 at home to Great Wakering Rovers, their fourth straight game without a home goal, though it did at least stop a run of three-straight losses at Maidstone Road.

Elsewhere Thamesmead Town endured a torrid 5-0 defeat at Brightlingsea.

Ben Newson opened the scoring inside five minutes for the Essex side and Jake Turner made it 2-0 nine minutes before the break, though the final three goals came in the space of nine minutes late in the game from Michael Brothers, Phil Kelly and Sean Bartlett.

Cray Wanderers’ struggles continued with a 2-1 defeat at Heybridge Swifts.

Reece Morgan and Neil Richmond gave the hosts a 2-0 first-half lead and though Adrian Stone pulled one back on 55 minutes, Wands couldn’t conjure an equaliser.
