UNSETTLED Mark Saunders will step out of Priestfield's shadows and deputise for the suspended Marcus Browning in Gillingham's midfield at Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Saunders, who last started a match for the club on October 20 away to Wimbledon, looks certain to be recalled to a side showing at least three changes as Browning and Iffy Onuora are ruled out by suspensions while J-Lloyd Samuel has been recalled by Aston Villa.

Paul Shaw is Onuora's likely replacement with David Perpetuini deputising for Samuel.

Saunders, whose contract expires next summer, has still to agree an extension with chairman Paul Scally. His last first team appearance was as a substitute late in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace. He was also on the bench against Birmingham, twice, Walsall, Burnley, Manchester City, Crewe, Watford, Millwall and Stockport.

"I don't know if I'm playing against Forest but it goes without saying that I'd love to break back into the first team," said Saunders. "If I get the chance then I'll take it with both hands."

Manager Andy Hessenthaler is unlikely to change the 4-3-3 formation which has coincided with a revival that sends the side to the City Ground looking to extend a five-match unbeaten sequence.
