Wealdstone v Welling
WELLING manager Neil Smith has urged his players to show plenty of character in tomorrow’s (Saturday) FA Trophy third qualifying round tie at Wealdstone.
The Wings’ mini-revival came to an abrupt end at the hands of Maidenhead last weekend and Smith is keen that his squad show some resolve.
Smith said: “It’s going to be a battle and we need to make sure we are right mentally.
“We need to have the same mentality that we had when we went to the likes of Eastbourne, we need to expect a tough game of football.
“The FA Trophy is a competition that we could do well in, it’s important for the club and we need our big characters to have big games on Saturday.”
Smith, who could welcome back hamstring victim Robbie Ryan, failed in attempts to bring in a defender last week but has hinted that assistant manager Stuart Nethercott may have to play this weekend if further deals fall through.
Sam Keevill (foot) is likely to return at Wealdstone but Smith (back) could miss out.
