LADIES snooker player Katie Henrick, from Cliffe, near Rochester, admits she doesn’t mind sacrificing a big break or two as long as she reaches the semi-finals of the World Championships this week.

Henrick achieved a personal ambition in last year’s championship when she recorded the first century of her competitive career - 101 - which was also the highest break in the event.

However, after being knocked out in the quarter-finals Henrick insists her priorities will be different when this year’s begins on Thursday.

The world no. 6 said: “I don’t care if I struggle to put together big breaks as long as I win the matches. I really want to make it through to the last four. Then I’ll get the chance to play at the Crucible, which has been one of my biggest ambitions since I took up the sport.

“I know it won’t be easy because the standard of players has improved considerably in recent years, but I’m confident I can make it through the group stages and then who knows.”
