Charlton Athletic's first game under new head coach Jose Riga ended in a stalemate against Huddersfield Town at The Valley on Wednesday night.
With an Addicks crowd of just under 13,000 showing their support for departed boss Chris Powell, sacked on Monday morning, the goalscoring problems which left Powell's side bottom of the Championship and contributed to the loss of his job were still in evidence under Belgian former AC Milan coach Riga, who received a frosty welcome from home fans.
Riga included two players brought in from Standard Liege, Iran striker Reza Ghoochannejhad and Astrit Ajdarevic but left Liege keeper Yohann Thuram-Ulien on the bench, preferring Ben Hamer.
The league's lowest scorers went close to breaking the deadlock with Ajdarevic, Ghoochannejhad and Michael Morrison going close from Johhnie Jackson corners.
At the other end Dorian Dervite, brought in after Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final defeat at Sheffield United, headed off the line from Nakhi Wells and Hamer denied the former Bradford man on another occasion.
Diego Poyet did send the recalled Marvin Sordell through, only for the striker to be denied by Alex Smithies while the on-loan Bolton man scuffed another shot tamely wide when well-placed.
The Addicks remain bottom of the table, though they have between three and four games in hand on their relegation rivals, ahead of a huge derby against fourth-bottom Millwall on Saturday.
