Mark Stimson has set his sights on getting six points

Gillingham have just two games to save themselves from relegation and manager Mark Stimson accepts that both must be won.

A draw at Bristol Rovers on Saturday saw survival hopes lengthen and the Gills must now beat rivals Swindon this weekend before completing a possible great escape with a shock win in front of 40,000 fans at promotion-chasing Leeds.

It’s a task which looks beyond a Gillingham side who have only recorded two wins in their last 11 games, but Stimson hasn’t given up hope.

“We need two wins and how we get them I don’t care,” he said. “If we have to play ugly to win then we’ll do that.

“We’ll be going to attack them like we always attack the games; nice and positive and trying to play on the front foot to get those wins that everyone at the club wants.

“We’ve got six points to play for and that’s what we’ve got to try and get, and if that’s enough then fantastic. If we get those six points then I’m convinced that will be good enough and whether it is we’ll wait and see.”
