Leyton Orient v Gillingham

GILLINGHAM manager Mark Stimson wants the supporters to play their part when his side travel to Leyton Orient on Tuesday.

Stimson was impressed by the vocal backing his team got in the home match against Nottingham Forest and is hoping those same fans will back them in East London.

He said: “Hopefully the supporters enjoyed their Saturday night and the New Year and they bring their voices to Orient.

“I know some of the supporters come in and they want the players to give them a lift but sometimes it’s a combination of the both.

“From the first whistle behind that goal against Forest I heard some noise. That’s the first time I’ve heard it from the first whistle and that’s important. Full credit to them, especially those behind that Rainham End.”

Two players picked up injuries against Forest and both keeper Simon Royce (groin) and Dennis Oli (hamstring) will be assessed on Monday.

Stimson has tasted away success just once since taking over as manager and Gillingham will have to be at their best to repeat that against a team sitting just outside the League 1 play-off places.

Gillingham will be without midfielder Stuart Thurgood, who is suspended, while defender Ian Cox is close from recovery but not close enough.
