Sometimes you don’t want players sent off because you know how hard it can be against 10 men.

Add into the mix the quality players Coventry have and it was a difficult test for us on Tuesday night.

I felt we applied ourselves well and stuck to the task.

We didn’t panic or get frustrated. We were patient when we weren’t in possession and made good decisions when we had the ball.

There are always things we can learn from every game – win, lose or draw.

We’re always striving to improve as a team, as a staff and as a club but, like I said last week, first and foremost, it’s about results at this stage of the season.

There were four penalties in the game, which I can’t remember seeing before. Bayo Akinfenwa showed great composure to score our two and Coventry’s were also well taken.

We go to Bradford on Saturday who are fantastic big-city football club.

They’ve got a great manager in Phil Parkinson and his assistant, Steve Parkin, used to be my boss. They have a view on how football should be played and a massive work ethic, too.

The club have a big following and the chairman has done well to get the fans back.
