Midfielder Stuart Thurgood is in talks with Grays Athletic and Dagenham & Redbridge.
Manager Mark Stimson needs to shift players out of the club as he aims to bring in new faces and the 26-year-old found himself surplus to requirements.
Thurgood’s departure would free up space in Stimson’s budget and he has already offered a League 1 striker a deal.
Stimson said: “We’ve put an offer across to a striker who is still at a first division club and were waiting to hear tomorrow (Sunday) or first thing on Monday whether he accepts or not.
“Unfortunately bringing players in means you have to balance it up and it might mean players leaving.
“Stuart wants to play football and two clubs want to speak to him.”
Stimson is also keen to see more of Nigerian central defender Bobsam Elejiko who completed a second 90 minute trial for Gillingham at Thurrock.
“He’s done well and we’ll be speaking to his representative,” said the Gills manager.
“If I can have a chat with his agent then maybe we can sort a short term deal out and maybe make it into a long term.”
*Gillingham end pre-season with a win.*
