IT'S A big weekend for many of Kent's non-league sides as clubs chase FA Cup glory and the financial rewards that go with it.
There are 18 preliminary ties involving Kent teams with the winners receiving £1,000 and earning a place in the first qualifying round where a further cash windfall of £7,500 is up for grabs.
These are huge amounts for clubs in the Dr Martens League and the Go Travel Kent League. The pick of the games is at Longmead Stadium where a crowd of around 1,000 is expected to see Southern League Tonbridge Angels meet Kent League champions Maidstone United.
Angels boss Alan Walker is a former Maidstone player while Tonbridge's Peter Overton and Lloyd Hume have also played for the Stones.
"This is the tie I wanted because I have good memories of my time at Maidstone in the Kent County League," said Walker. "They should have been promoted last season so we will not be taking them lightly."
There are two other all-Kent games with Deal entertaining Hythe after coming through an extra preliminary round replay this week, while Sittingbourne play Slade Green at Central Park.
Ashford, Chatham and Dartford will be confident of progressing as they have home ties against Carshalton, Egham Town and Carterton Town respectively.
Among the other Kent League sides in action are struggling Lordswood who face a tough trip to Horsham while Herne Bay go to Sandhurst Town and Tunbridge Wells hope to start a good cup run with a win at home to Ashford (Middx).
