KENT’S England wicket-keeper Geraint Jones, on tour in Pakistan, has won the BBC South East Sports Personality of the Year Award for 2005.

His award was collected by Kent chief executive Paul Millman at last Sunday’s ceremony at the Brighton Hilton Metropole.

Though unable to collect his trophy, Jones said: "I’d like to thank all the fans who voted for me as winning this award is another highlight in what has been a truly memorable year for me."
