GILLS chairman Paul Scally has already got a growing list of managers interested in taking over from Ronnie Jepson.
Jepson quit on Sunday following the Gills' poor start to the season and prospective replacements have been contacting Mr Scally.
He said: "I’ve already had probably 15 or 20 phone calls from agents and managers, including some names that I thought were long dead and buried, and I’ll probably continue to do so this week.
"The process of interviewing managers is never straightforward and we’ll start that process as soon as possible."
Mick Docherty and Iffy Onuora, who were assistants to Jepson, will take over the running of the team on a caretaker basis for Saturday’s derby match against Brighton.
"Iffy and Doc will continue to coach the team this week," said Mr Scally. "The players are quite down but we’ve had a good chat and we’re here to look forward and go forward which is what we’ll do this week."
Both men could be in line for taking over the club on a permanent basis and Mr Scally is willing to listen to allcomers.
"I’ve got an open mind," he said. "We’ll listen to those who wish to come to the club, and look at those who we would like to talk to and see if that’s possible, and then make a decision.
"Everyone’s got a chance at the moment but it’s important to bring someone to the club who can work with the current squad, improve it and get us playing football again."
