Armour all set for title defence

KENT boxer Johnny Armour will face Francis Ampofo, the man he beat for the WBU Bantamweight crown, in his first title defence. Armour, from Chatham, faces Welshman Ian Turner in a warm-up bout at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday, December 1, before he faces Ampofo on Monday, January 28.

There's a possibility that the re-match could take place at Chatham Dockyard. Armour, who has been training hard in Liverpool for the past eight weeks, said: "I can't wait to get back into the ring. Ian Turner is a bit heavier than me but my trainers reckon I can do the job. That will be a good test for me before my first defence. The re-match against Ampofo will be a great one and I'm confident I can beat him again."

Armour paid tribute to his trainers and also Ron Wood, owner of Ron Wood Haulage, who had sponsored his stay in Liverpool.
