CHATHAM'S Johnny Armour is to get a shot at recapturing the WBU bantamweight title before the end of the year.
Armour will face the winner of the Nathan Sting versus Nicky Booth clash on Saturday and will be ringside at Harvey Hadden Sports Complex to see his two biggest rivals up close.
The Medway boxer has been assured a crack at the winner and a bigger purse for the fight after he agreed to step aside to let Saturday’s bout take place.
There was a fear that Sting’s first defence could be postponed as Armour was the mandatory challenger but Armour’s team now have got the necessary assurances that their man will get his shot before Christmas and have given Saturday's bout their approval.
Armour is still smarting over losing his title to Australian Sting in July.
The 34-year-old is keen for a rematch but wouldn’t mind a crack at Booth after the Nottingham fighter made derogatory comments about him after his last fight.
Armour said: “I’m not really that bothered I’m not fighting on Saturday. This way I see it is I get a bigger purse for the next fight and I’ll get to have a good look at both of them.
“I really want another fight with Sting because I want to wipe out that victory he has over me. I know I can beat him.
“On the day of my last fight I was so drained and it wasn't me in there. I had to lose six pounds the day before that fight I was so weak that anybody could have beaten me but I won't make the same mistake twice.”
Armour could have the best possible preparation - and run the rule over another prospective opponent.
Armour has been invited to spar with WBA champion Johnny Bredahl in his native Denmark at the end of the month as he prepares for his next title defence.
