IT HAS not been the easiest of times for Barry Ashby to come back from a long injury lay-off.
No sooner had the experienced defender regained his match fitness and won his place back in the side than the club was thrown into turmoil.
First, Andy Hessenthaler announced his resignation. His assistant John Gorman took over for one match and then left the club himself to take the hotseat at Wycombe Wanderers.
Add to that the dramatic victory against fellow relegation strugglers Nottingham Forest at the weekend and the team currently being picked by a four-man “selection committee” made up of Iwan Roberts, Paul Smith, Darren Hare and chairman Paul Scally, it has been an unusual week at the Priestfield.
