Margate will be looking to pick up where they left off at Hartsdown Park when they entertain AFC Hornchurch on Saturday.
Last weekend Barry Ashby’s side claimed their first win of the season after beating Heybridge Swifts on home soil 2-1.
Ashby’s men came from a goal down to secure the points and the win was the manager’s first in competitive action.
“It was a nice feeling but to be honest I’m just delighted for the boys,” he said.
“They’ve been putting in some really good performances and we’re really pleased. The boys have set the standard now and they have to keep that up.
“We’ve been doing it for 45 minutes here and there but we now need to turn that into whole games.”
Saturday’s winning goal came just after the hour mark when Dan Young netted with a header.
Margate had to come back from behind to win after Heybridge took a 30th minute lead through Reggie Savage. That lead was soon cancelled out when Luke Coleman netted with an effort that took a deflection off Ryan Peters – a goal both players were claiming.
On Tuesday the side were due to travel to Harlow in the Ryman League, Premier Division before returning to home soil for this Saturday’s league fixture.
“If we’re on our game and we perform to the levels we can then we’ll cause people problems and we’ll win more games than we’ll lose,” said Ashby.
The former Gills defender has been rumoured to be considering a return to action but Ashby admitted it was unlikely.
“I’m going to train with the boys and see how it is,” he said.
“If I come in it will be because we’re really struggling but it would have to be a big, big injury crisis.”
