Six Blackheath & Bromley athletes have been named in Great Britain and Northern Ireland team heading to the 12th IAAF World Junior Championships.

The team will travel to Bydgoszcz, Poland on Saturday July 5 to prepare for the championships, which takes place July 8-13.

Those selected are: Men: 100m: James Alaka, 110mH: Alex Al-Ameen, Pole Vault: Scott Huggins, 4x100m: Olafunmi Sobodu. Women: Shaunagh Brown, 4x100m: Anike Shand Whittingham (Blackheath & Bromley).

Meanwhile, B&B athlete Montell Douglas was part of the Great Britain women's squad that finished third in the Spar European Cup at Annecy in France.

She ran in the 4x100 metres team that finished in second place in a time of 42.95, one of the quickest times in the world this year.

Clubmate Dwayne Grant continued his preparations for the Olympic Trials by timing 10.47 for the 100 metres at a meeting at Salamanca in Spain.
