Ipswich 1 Charlton 1

Nicky Bailey struck his third goal of the season to earn Charlton a precious point from a draw at Ipswich on Tuesday night.

Owen Garvan's 37th minute goal - his third in four days - looked good enough to earn the Tractor Boys maximum points as they sought to follow up Saturday's exceptional 3-1 win at Plymouth.

Ipswich substitute Pablo Counago then had a penalty saved by Nicky Weaver after a handball by Kelly Youga.

Charlton, whose mental strength has been questioned in the past, fought back to snatch a point with eight minutes remaining.

Bailey's goal was made all the sweeter for manager Alan Pardew who had found himself defending the midfielder following a series of below-par performances.

The point kept the Addicks in 20th place in the Coca-Cola Championship with a visit to come from Barnsley on Saturday.
