Boss Mark Stimson believes the Gillingham fans have yet to see the best of midfielder Curtis Weston.
Stimson knows the 21-year-old, like striker Mark McCammon, is playing catch-up with his fitness after missing Stimson’s rigorous pre-season workout.
“The players who are probably fatiguing a bit in our team are Curtis Weston and Mark McCammon, who haven’t been around us for that long,” explained Stimson.
“They will only get better. Curtis again hurt his ankle in training and so only trained twice this week.
“Curtis needs a period of time where he can train four times a week and then you’ll see a totally different player. He shouldn’t be at this level.
“He’s probably running at only 75 per cent and once we get him at 90 to 95 per cent he should just run away from people.”
