ALAN CURBISHLEY has been urged to walk away from Charlton rather than face flak from fans.
Bolton boss Sam Allardyce, whose side’s 2-1 success at The Valley on Saturday left the Addicks without a win in four games, leapt to Curbishley’s defence and warned the club risk relegation without him.
Some sections of Charlton’s support believe he has taken the club as far as he can after again becoming afflicted by the slides of March.
But Allardyce retorted: "Charlton would go only one way if Curbs left and that would be down. I can’t believe people are having a go at him but perhaps the time is right for him to move on.
"If his chairman let him go without compensation as a reward for all he has done, then really top clubs would go for him."
Charlton are due to play the first of two successive away games at Aston Villa on Wednesday night before travelling to Carrow Road to face Norwich on Saturday.
