Gillingham look likely to lose out on another of their top targets with Millwall's transfer-listed Lucas Neill moving to Premier League Blackburn on a week's trial with a view to a permanent move.
Neill, Millwall's longest-serving player, was targeted by Gillingham in July after the club discovered he was out of contract at the end of this season.
Millwall are hoping to sell 23-year-old Neill to fund the signing of Middlesbrough midfielder Phil Stamp who is at the club on a month's loan.
