Never before have the great and the good among Britain's leading football writers come together to present a unique collection of more than 60 original essays on every aspect of the modern game in the book "Forgive Us Our Press Passes,"an anthology of modern football writing.
Among the contributors is Kent Messenger Group journalist Tony Hudd who writes about 16-year-old Isaac Newell who left his home in Taylors Lane, Strood, to sail for Rosario, Argentina where he founded the most prodigious conveyor belt of footballing talent the world has known.
Mr Hudd said: "The invitation to contribute was both an honour and privilege and I offer my undying gratitude to Cranbrook school teacher Adrian Pope for telling me the story of Isaac Newell.
"Truly, Newell was a man who launched legends. Barcelona's talisman Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, Gabriel Batistuta, Jorge Valdando and so many others share the common bond of having played for Newell's Old Boys, a club founded by a Kentish Man.
"The club enjoy the distinction of once providing all 11 players for the national side.
"Researching and writing Newell's story became a fascinating labour of love which I hope readers will share when they pick up the book."
"Forgive Us Our Press Passes" contains a foreword from Gary Lineker,is published by Know The Score Books and is priced at £19.99 with all proceeds going to the Great Ormond Hospital for Sick Children.
