Boss Ford chasing new winger

Andy Ford is looking at his options

Welling manager Andy Ford will shuffle his pack for Tuesday night's Setanta Shield clash at Thurrock.

The Wings boss is trying to finalise the signing of an unnamed wide player in time for the first round tie after allowing Seb Schoburgh to join Sittingbourne on dual registration terms.

"Seb needs to get out and get some games," said Ford. "We did the same with Ryan Johnson, albeit only one match due to injuries, and it didn't do him any harm.

"I'm trying to bring a player in to look at him against Thurrock but it's a case of getting it all finalised in time."

It means Ford is likely to have the same 16 fit players as for the draw against Dorchester with Charlie Sheringham (knee) not being risked.

Graeme Andrews and Sol Pinnock could be handed places in the starting line-up and Ford is keen to see them prove their worth.

He added: "There will be some lads coming off the bench and hopefully getting 90 minutes under their belts.

"You can't mix your squad too much under the rules of the competition plus we've only got 16 fit players at the moment."

Meanwhile, Welling assistant manager Jimmy Dack has been charged with improper conduct by the FA following the league game at Thurrock on August 23. He has until September 12 to respond to the charge.
