Midfielder Hameur Bouazza has cut short his season-long loan with Charlton in favour of joining Coca-Cola Championship promotion-chasers Birmingham City on loan for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old completed the switch on Thursday night after activating a clause in an agreement, signed when he moved to The Valley on loan from Premier League Fulham at the start of the season.

One of Bouazza’s four goals in 27 appearances for Charlton was scored against Birmingham at St Andrews on November 15.

“When Hameur joined us we had an agreement with Fulham to take him for the season,” said Parkinson. “But there was a clause in that deal which has been activated."

Meanwhile, Charlton are being strongly linked with Hull City’s London-born central defender Wayne Brown who played under new Charlton boss Phil Parkinson when he was in charge at Colchester.

Brown, 31, cost Hull £450,000 when they signed him from Colchester in 2007, helping them win promotion to the Premier League.

In 2003, he made four appearances on loan for Gillingham.

Parkinson would neither confirm or deny any deal had been struck with Hull but their manager Phil Brown intimated that his namesake could be heading for The Valley.

Charlton’s home game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday will be played. The decision was made after a Friday pitch inspection.
