WALMER Cricket Club bowler Andy Cotton achieved the remarkable feat of claiming two hat-tricks in the same innings.
Playing for Walmer 2nd against Addington 2nd in Kent League 2nd XI Division 3, Cotton ripped through the home side’s batting to finish with 9-30, the best ever league bowling figures by a Walmer player.
The 32-year-old seamer claimed his first hat-trick when he took the third, fourth and fifth wickets in three balls. He then polished off the Addington innings by taking their last three wickets.
Cotton said: "I had taken a hat-trick once before, but to take two in the same innings was just incredible.
"When I completed the second hat-trick all the lads went wild."
Thanks to Cotton, Addington were dismissed for just 66, but it proved a testing target with only Liam Disbury (15) making any impression early on.
Alan Farra (17) played a patient innings but with the scores level he was caught, leaving an extraordinary game tied.
