KENT made steady if unspectacular progress on the second morning of their rain ruined match against Surrey at St Lawrence.

Morning showers led to another delayed start until 11.30am when Kent moved on from their overnight score of 136 for eight to reach 166 without further loss.

Ian Butler edged the scoring along with an unbeaten 29 while Rob Ferley kept him company with a stubborn 14 not out.
