JOHNNY ARMOUR: "I've got too many big nights ahead of me to get lazy against Sting"

KENT boxer Johnny Armour says he’s ready to rumble as he prepares to face Australian fighter Nathan Sting at Brentwood on Saturday night (July 5).

Despite only being given a month’s notice before the fight, the 34-year-old fight from Chatham is in great shape heading into the third defence of his WBU bantamweight title.

And he says he’s ready to do the business in front of the Sky cameras and is hoping for an early night.

He said: “I know he’s a decent fighter but I’m going to prove to him that I’m the champion. I’ve got too much to lose and I’ve got too many big nights ahead of me to get lazy against Sting.”

This will be Armour’s first fight in 10 months after breaking his hand during his epic third contest with Francis Ampofo but the 34-year-old has been working hard.

He added: “It will be nice to get this one out of the way. After that, I want to get in with Nicky Booth (British champion) and do a number on him.

“Then I’d like a shot at Johnny Bredahl for the WBA title or possibly Steve Molitor, from Canada.”
