Chance for Wings to claw some points back

Andy Ford returns for the game

Welling v Weston-super-Mare

WELLING face their most important game of the season to date when they entertain Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.

The Wings know that three points will move them within touching distance of their visitors but also drag them away from the drop zone on a day when two of the bottom three face the top two sides in Blue Square South.

Manager Andy Ford, who missed Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Bromley due to work commitments, returns for the match. His assistant, Phil Handford, said: "You try not to put too much pressure on the players but this is a big game.

"We played really well at their place last month and we need to reproduce that performance.

"Looking at the games we’ve got, we have a chance to get ourselves out of this mess. We could do ourselves a massive favour by beating Weston."

Ford has signed keeper Steve Williams on dual registration from Ryman League Sittingbourne to deputise for the suspended Jamie Turner.

Another new signing expected to feature is Walton & Hersham midfielder Dan Nwanze, who the Ryman League Division 1 South club confirmed last week was the subject of a seven-day approach from the Wings. Nwanze has previous experience at this level with Carshalton.
