Charlton v Cardiff

Manager Phil Parkinson has urged Charlton’s strikers to fire them to safety.

The Addicks boss has admitted that his leaky defence means that his forward line need to up their game if they are to avoid relegation from the Championship.

Charlton have kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 league games and Parkinson stated: “We need to start winning games soon.

“To get on that run we need our goalscorers to start scoring because keeping clean sheets is proving to be a big problem.

“In saying that, I thought Tresor Kandol and Chris Dickson gave Bristol City real problems with their pace and power.”

Parkinson will hand loan signing Tresor Kandol his home debut on Saturday when play-off chasing Cardiff visit The Valley.

Skipper Mark Hudson (hip) remains a doubt having missed the defeats at Burnley and Bristol City last week.

With 15 games to save their season, Parkinson added: “We can’t look any further than the next game and focusing our energy on that, making sure the tactics are right and we do our homework on the opposition.

“In many games we have done that, but it’s getting over the finishing line. We’ve shown in patches that we are a decent side.”
