CHARLTON midfielder Danny Murphy could be in line for a return to the England squad, according to Sven-Goran Eriksson's right-hand man.

Tord Grip said Eriksson would be at The Valley to see Premiership high-flyers Charlton take on Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday to run the rule over the in-form Murphy and also Jerome Thomas.

Grip said: "If Murphy goes on playing like he has done so far we will watch him - and Sven is going to see his game on Saturday - so we will see.

"He is doing so well for Charlton and of course if you pick a player from a team doing well then you know that you will have a confident player, that's for sure."

Grip added: "Jerome Thomas on the left is an interesting player because he's also a very tricky player - he's quick and has good technique and likes to beat people. He's doing very well too."
