CHARLTON have confirmed interest in Valencia's unsettled Italian-born striker Bernardo Corradi.

Manager Alan Curbishley disclosed that the club had asked for more details regarding the availability of the 6ft 3in Corradi, who has fallen out of favour with Valencia’s former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri.

Curbishley said: "Jeff Vetere, our European scouting co-ordinator, is in the process of finding out more. I think it's fair to say that we hope to do some business while the transfer window is open, so we’ll see what happens."

Charlton are believed to be keen to sign Corradi on loan for the rest of the season.

Moreno Roggi, the player’s agent, added: "It's true, Charlton are interested in Bernardo, but so are other clubs, such as Roma."

Siena-born Corradi, 28, cost £2.5m when he moved from Chievo to Inter-Milan in June, 2002. He moved from Lazio to Valencia for an undisclosed fee in July last year but has struggled to settle.

The Addicks are also rumoured to be interested in Argentine central defender Sebastian Dominguez who would cost the club £1.3m.

Charlton assistant manager Keith Peacock was scouting in Argentina just before Christmas when he checked the form of top-scorer Lisando Lopez and is also thought to have assessed Dominguez, who plays for Newell's Old Boys, a club founded by former Strood resident Isaac Newell.

Fernando Hidalgo, the player's agent, said he was sure of a positive outcome to talks with Charlton.
